Whether to write to draw or paint, the quality of our work depends on the level of our imagination. As today’s world is transformed through the outcomes of different people’s imagination, Daniel Gezai is one of those people who is dedicated in innovating numerous things and presenting different artistic works to the public. Daniel’s ability of painting and sculpture has made him win contests besides his impressive innovations which he has been awarded numerous times. His works are believed to be a great help to the advancement of the community and the country itself. Today Q&A presents a young man who believes, he can deliver much more important works of innovation and artistic works to his people.
There is this song that celebrates a ‘joyous love’ and it is very commonly sang in weddings, so much so, that I can dare to say it has become some sort of taboo for the marrying couple to slice the cake prior to a dance, to this song. The song is called ‘Saba Sabina’ and it belongs to a legend in the Eritrean music: Engineer Asgedom Weldemichael. He is also the very legend behind magical sounds of his guitar’s strings, which we all know of! His legend goes back to the 1970’s; time of history when national chronicle was being made into celestial melodies, so mighty and so heavenly, that have withstood the winds of time while preserving their magnificence up to present day. It is my greatest honor to share with you the Q&A I had with Engineer Asgedom.
Festivals are events that bring a society into one field. It is a time enjoyed by all the people from all walks of life. As it is a National Festival season for Eritrea, the grounds of the Expo has witnessed immense excitement and bond between the people in the past week. He was here in Asmara for the past couple of months conducting a workshop to Eritrean film artists on what he refers to as ‘cinematic language’. On the occasion of the ending ceremony, the partakers presented four stunning short films using the ingredients imparted during the workshop.

His quality writings send back their roots back in time. He highly believes that long standing ancient documents of the past should not neglected, but, “de-shelved” as he says in his own coined word.
