Orotta Post-Graduate College graduates first batch OB/GYN specialists

Asmara, 18 February 2012 – Five Gynecology and Obstetrics specialists graduated today from Orotta Post-Graduate College following a 3-year course through distance-learning program.

 

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Director of the Post -Graduate Medical Education Program, Dr. Ogbaselassie Gebreamlak,  congratulated  the graduating batch,  and said that they have been providing 24-hour uninterrupted service to mothers and the newborns, training and supervising nurses, medical students and interns, in addition to pursuing the courses.

The Director of OB/GYN program at Orotta Post-Graduate College, Dr. Susan Marzoff, commended the relentless efforts and devotion of the students, and reminded the graduates that the end of OB/GYN residency is rather the beginning of a new path as a specialist committed to teaching skills and sharing of knowledge for the benefit of women, children and families.

A representative of the graduates, Dr. Biniam Zecarias, on his part appreciated the educational opportunity provided to them, and pledged to do their level best in reducing mortality rate.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nurhusein, said that the courses offered resulted in nurturing skilled manpower, and called on the graduates to do their level best in their future career.
Dr. Dawit Sereke and Dr. Abrahma Yohannes, from among the graduating batch, said that the courses were given by both Eritrean and foreign nationals.
