Human Rights

It is very ironic to see imperialists and hegemonists brandish the ‘stick’ of human rights these days. It has become a fashion for successive American administrations to flaunt this so-called ‘stick’ that they never should have carried in the first place. Although this issue requires a much lengthy commentary, it suffices to state and understand that human values aren’t something that one can mock as he or she pleases. Rather, it is something that has been begotten and refined with the development of different political cultures and societies.

For the history of the United States of America, is the history of mankind’s misery.

Although it requires some in-depth research, it is not contesting to comprehend that the first migrants who crossed the ocean to the Americas did not have righteous and bona fide motives.
History also teaches us that that the first settlers slaughtered native Americans that were later called Red Indians in order to claim their lands. In the 21st century, such an act would be regarded as ‘crimes against humanity’ or ‘ethnic cleansing.’

Another clear example is that the first settlers brought slaves whose labor they wanted to utilize in their plantations from Africa  under inhuman conditions, and kept the practice until the end of the 20th century. George Washington himself is reputed to have owned 17 slaves. What made him any different was that the fact that he allowed medical care for his slaves.

Successive American Administrations ever since the 20th century have always extended their support to dictatorial régimes just so their geopolitical and economic interests would be realized. This policy has created much suffering in different nations and brought about a gross violation of human rights, and still continues. This inerasable memory can not be covered whatsoever.

The political and economic supremacy of the United States is a product of sets of wrongdoings and taking what is not theirs. It is not something that they got through righteousness and respecting human rights. All in all, it’s a shameful history that has been founded upon dominance and the rules of the jungle.

History is history, and it has its own authenticity and reasoning. Often, it is said that its better to address the present instead of the past. But if there’s nothing that has changed, then the past and the present become one. Many examples can be brought about, apparently, it does seem hard to erase a political culture that has centuries in the founding.

What we see today, and what we hear the sanctimonious American administration claiming about human rights time and again, is only to vertically polarize populations and weaken nations so as to realize American interests and ensure American dominance. Such a fact can not be hidden from anyone.
