Administrator Calls on Inhabitants of Habero Sub-zone to Effectively Harness Natural Resources

The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, called on the inhabitants of Habero sub-zone, especially the farming community to effectively utilize the available natural resources and fertile agricultural sites in their respective localities.

Habero, 16 April 2010 – The Administrator of Anseba region, Mr. Gergis Girmai, called on the inhabitants of Habero sub-zone, especially the farming community to effectively utilize the available natural resources and fertile agricultural sites in their respective localities.

In a meeting with the inhabitants of Habero-Tselim, Habero-Tsaeda and Mezret administrative areas, he explained that the Government is doing its level best to improve the people’s standard of living and achieve food security. To this end, the Administrator called on the inhabitants to make optimum use of the existing natural resources and farming plots.

Mr. Gergis further highlighted the need for the farmers to reinforce vegetable farming and boost output through maximum utilization of the waters of Anseba River that flows through a number of localities in Habero sub-zone.

Noting that the Government is taking concerted action to implement new development projects in the sub-zone, he stated that the Fiza Agricultural Project is one of the programs in which the necessary infrastructure facilities have been put in place.

Expressing readiness to back up the national resolute rebuff and reinforce the efforts to achieve food security, the participants of the meeting adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations.

Meanwhile, the inhabitants of 8 administrative areas in Habero sub-zone are undertaking commendable soil and water conservation activities, according to reports.
