Endeavors being stepped up to boost output in Mendefera and Dubarwa sub-zone

Over 120 hectare of land in Dubarwa and Mendefera sub-zones that were never utilized before is now ready to be put under cultivation so as to boost output and achieve food security.
Mendefera, 22 April 2010 – Over 120 hectare of land in Dubarwa and Mendefera sub-zones that were never utilized before is now ready to be put under cultivation so as to boost output and achieve food security.

Reports indicated that various awareness raising campaigns were undertaken for the farming community which made due contribution for the success of the study conducted towards identifying the previously neglected farmlands. Such endeavors would also continue in the sub-zones of Emni-Haili and Adi-Quala.

The local inhabitants commended the initiatives taken to utilize the abandoned land plots for cultivation and expressed commitment to step up participation in the endeavors.

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Southern region on its part urged the farming community to enhance collaboration in efforts to identify vacant farmlands in their respective areas so that they may be put under cultivation.
