Barentu, 26 April 2010 – The majority of the population in Gash-Barka region has already got access to education thanks to the substantial investment being made to expand educational opportunity.
At a meeting held to assess the progress of education in the region, it was disclosed that the Government is doing its level best to develop the sector. Reports indicated that the number of schools in different parts of the region has increased double-fold. It is known that the number of schools that was limited to 39 in specified areas of the region prior to independence has now been multiplied to reach 349.
The participants of the meeting highlighted the need for promoting active student participation parallel to the construction of schools and called on parents to send their children to school.
