Health Care Program in Schools Bears Commendable Progress

The health care program undertaken in Gash-Barka region in schools through the concerted effort of the branch offices of the ministries of education and health is bearing commendable progress.
Barentu, 1 May 2010 – The health care program undertaken in Gash-Barka region in schools through the concerted effort of the branch offices of the ministries of education and health is bearing commendable progress.

The program, which concentrates on skin, ear and eye treatment on students, is aimed at ensuring their state of health. Reports indicated that the program is proving effective in following up the academic performance of the students.  

The head of sports, culture and health in the Education Ministry’s branch office in the region, Mr. Mahari Woldeselasie, stated that health care service is a basic necessity, and that the investment made in health programs plays vital role in achieving the desired educational outcome. Students of the Duta Secondary School in Barentu lauded the government’s initiatives to this end.

Reports disclosed that there are about 48 elementary, 32 junior and 12 secondary school teachers engaged in monitoring basic health care of students in Gash-Barka region.
