Ministry Applying Laws and Regulation In A Manner That Reflects Reality of People’s Lives: The Minister of Justice

In an interview she conducted with ERINA on the occasion of the 19th Independence Anniversary, the Minister of Justice, Ms. Fawzia Hashim stated that the ministry is applying its laws and regulations in a manner that reflects the reality of the people’s lives.

Asmara, 14 May 2010- In an interview she conducted with ERINA on the occasion of the 19th Independence Anniversary, the Minister of Justice, Ms. Fawzia Hashim stated that the ministry is applying its laws and regulations in a manner that reflects the reality of the people’s lives.

Indicating that the Eritrean people abide by ancient and clearly documented customary laws, Ms. Fawzia stated that the Ministry of Justice is working by reviewing its guidelines every five years while giving due regard to customary laws.

Explaining that the organizational and human resource capability of the Ministry has gradually grown over the past 19 years, Ms. Fawzia said that the experience acquired over the years has played a vital role in securing social justice and establishing a responsible legal system. She went on to add that the objective of the system is to extend the number of courts as well as provide efficient and reliable services.

The Minister also pointed out that 180 students from the Warsai Yikealo Secondary School have been provided with a year-long training as part of the efforts to upgrade human resource skills.

Ms. Fawzia finally called on all nationals to maintain their identity, unity and harmony while abiding by the law and mutual respect for one another
