The people of the Southern Red Sea region are making preparations to colorfully celebrate the 19th Independence Anniversary.
Assab, 15 May 2010- The people of the Southern Red Sea region are making preparations to colorfully celebrate the 19th Independence Anniversary.
Pointing out that this year’s celebrations command more significance due to the fact that they are being held at a time when the Eritrean people are mounting a united resolute rebuff against an unjust resolution and striving to realize national development goals, the chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee in Assab, Mr. Berhane Eysau said that the people of Assab are finalizing preparations to celebrate independence day from 23 to 26 May together with members of the Defense Forces.
Mr. Berhane further added that the town of Assab has been colorfully decorated for the festive events and six different cultural troupes are going to entertain the people throughout the celebrations.
Moreover, an entertainment ground for children and a hall where government organizations can present their products and where painters and other artists can showcase their creation have been made ready. Carnival shows will also be staged both on land and sea.
Meanwhile, sports competitions that were underway since April as part of the independence celebrations are still continuing and general knowledge competitions and discussion with veteran freedom fighters will begin on 16 May.
The people of the Southern Red Sea Region are also preparing for the customary communal Independence Day celebrations.
