Sea and land carnival shows staged in Assab town

Sea and land carnival shows were staged in Assab town yesterday, as part of programs to colorfully celebrate the 19th anniversary of Independence Day. Community tents and feasts were also prepared on the occasion in which the people rejoiced together.
Assab, 22 May 2010 – Sea and land carnival shows were staged in Assab town yesterday, as part of programs to colorfully celebrate the 19th anniversary of Independence Day. Community tents and feasts were also prepared on the occasion in which the people rejoiced together.

The Commander of the Eastern Command, Maj. General Gerezgiher Andemariam, and the Administrator of the Southern Red Sea region, Mr. Osman Mohammed Omar, participated in the celebrations.

Meanwhile, a carnival show in which about 1,500 students, youths and EDF members, as well as inhabitants of 3 administrative areas took part was staged that continued for 4 hours, while sea carnival involving motor boat racing featured.

The participants of the celebrations stressed the paramount importance of the great Day and pledged to live up to the nation’s expectations.

A number of people observed the carnival shows with enthusiasm, according to reports.
