Asmara, 26 May 2010 – Eritrean nationals in different parts of the world celebrated the 19th anniversary of Independence Day with a patriotic zeal, according to reports.
Hundreds of thousands of citizens and friends of Eritrea participated in the Independence Day celebrations organized in a colorful manner.
In the celebrations they organized featuring cultural shows and other programs, Eritrean nationals residing in Australia and New Zealand stated that this year’s May 24 is both special and historical as it is being celebrated after the staging of worldwide demonstrations in which Eritrean citizens echoed strong voice of truth and justice. In this connection, they reiterated commitment to live up to the nation’s expectations.
Also in celebrations of the great event, the Eritrean Community in Egypt expressed determination to rebuff enemy acts of conspiracy and hostility, and thereby strengthen the national resolute rebuff. Various artistic and cultural programs highlighting the history of the armed struggle, as well as the heroism and dedication of the Eritrean people featured on the occasion.
Likewise, Eritrean nationals in Israel celebrated Independence Day in a colorful manner.
