The inhabitants of Kerkebet sub-zone who used to lead nomadic pattern of living have at present not only managed to live in one settlement but have also familiarized themselves with modern agricultural practices, stated Mr. Humed Ela Ali, the Administrator. Kerkebet, 29 May 2010 – The inhabitants of Kerkebet sub-zone who used to lead nomadic pattern of living have at present not only managed to live in one settlement but have also familiarized themselves with modern agricultural practices, stated Mr. Humed Ela Ali, the Administrator.
Noting that previously the inhabitants used to live in scattered manner, he explained that as a result of the vigorous endeavors made over the past 19 years, they have been regrouped in a permanent settlement and have already become beneficiaries of various social services.
Mr. Humed indicated that the administrative areas of Himbol, Hamshdiba, Amalait, Dirfo, Lokoyeb and Filik have already got access to potable water supply, while efforts are underway to install water pipelines in the remaining administrative areas.
He further pointed out that there are 3 health institutions in the sub-zone which are providing commendable service. Besides, there exist 8 school providing educational opportunities from the kindergarten up to junior level, Mr. Humed elaborated.
Also in line with endeavors to familiarize farmers with modern agriculture, 115 farmers have been regrouped and are engaged in fruits and vegetable farming, according to reports.
