The number of schools in Anseba region registered tremendous growth as a result of the coordinated endeavors exerted over the years since independence. Mr. Bokretsion Habtemichael, head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the region, stressed the paramount importance of such growth in facilitating the teaching-learning process, as well as building human capacity.
Keren, 4 June 2010 – The number of schools in Anseba region registered tremendous growth as a result of the coordinated endeavors exerted over the years since independence. Mr. Bokretsion Habtemichael, head of the Education Ministry’s branch in the region, stressed the paramount importance of such growth in facilitating the teaching-learning process, as well as building human capacity.
Mr. Bokretsion indicated that the Government has been giving top priority to the task of school construction in general and developing basic education in particular. He further explained that the number of schools which was limited to 31 in the entire region has now climbed to about 270.
Noting that construction and renovation of schools continues to be undertaken, he stated that the 2 million Nakfa monetary assistance extended by the regional Administration to teachers has vital role to play in encouraging them to work with ever more dedication.
Reports indicated that there are 33 elementary schools providing educational instruction in the Bilin language, 49 in the Tigre language, 12 in Arabic, 2 in the Bidawiet language and 33 elementary schools in Tigrinya in the region.
