Nacfa, 4 June 2010 – Planting of cactus is underway in Nacfa sub-zone and its surroundings through popular campaign with a view to preventing soil erosion.
The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone, Mr. Mohammed Saleh Jabera, said that members of the general public, the Army and employees are taking active participation in the task. He noted the significance of cactus not only in preventing soil erosion but also for human and animal feed. The planting activities covering 22 hectares are being carried out around Sheka Teses, Felek and Edaga, he added.
Meanwhile, reports indicated that out of the 24,000 tree seedlings planted in different sites of the sub-zone over the past couple of years, 90% have mushroomed.
