Gash-Barka Regional Student Week was conducted in Barentu town featuring sports and cultural activities. Barentu, 4 June 2010 – Gash-Barka Regional Student Week was conducted in Barentu town featuring sports and cultural activities.
The head of cultural and sports activities in the Education Ministry’s branch in the region, Mr. Mehari Woldeslasie, indicated that the Week was quite effective in which students from the kindergarten to secondary level took active participation.
Noting that the event served as a platform for projecting and upgrading the potentials of students, he explained that those who presented excellent products in the spheres of invention, painting, sculpture and other artistic works would participate in the forthcoming national Festival representing the branch office.
The head of the Ministry’s branch in the region, Mr. Kelit Girmai, on his part commended the close coordination of various institutions in making the Week successful.
Likewise, the Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Mussa Rab’a, stressed the significance of such an event in nurturing creative and outstanding youths.
Students and schools that demonstrated excellence in various competitions were awarded prizes.
