Inhabitants of Lekoyeb Express Satisfaction With Expansion of Social Service

The inhabitants of Lekoyeb administrative area, Kerkebet sub-zone, expressed statisfaction for becoming beneficiaries of various social services which are playing major role in improving their standard of living.

Kerkebet, 5 June 2010 – The inhabitants of Lekoyeb administrative area, Kerkebet sub-zone, expressed statisfaction for becoming beneficiaries of various social services which are playing major role in improving their standard of living.

They stated that they have already got access to various social services, including potable water supply, education and health thanks to the Government’s relentless endeavors.

Noting that they used to be neglected from obtaining social services as they used to lead nomadic way of living, the local inhabitants explained that they have now been regrouped in one community, which in turn enabled them to become beneficiaries of social services.

The Administrator of the area, Mr. Kerar Wuhaj Ali, pointed out that the Government is doing its level best to improve the living standard of nationals in remote areas. The putting in place of service-rendering institutions and its contribution in bringing  about noticeable improvement in the people’s standard of living fully attests to such an endeavor, he added.

Mr. Kerar further indicated that a major pond with a capacity of holding 150 barrels of water along with 4 water distribution stations have been constructed, in addition to the expansion of health services. A school is also under construction at a cost of 2.2 million Nakfa which would relieve students from attending classes in makeshift facility, he elaborated.

Mr. Kerar called on the local inhabitants to send their children to school and enhance participation in the ongoing efforts to achieve food security.
