Soil and water conservation activities being carried out in Mendefera sub-zone

The inhabitants of Mai-Harmaz, Adi-Tsaedi and Adekemene in Mendefera sub-zone are undertaking the necessary agricultural activities aimed at boosting production through preventing soil erosion. Mendefera, 8 June 2010 – The inhabitants of Mai-Harmaz, Adi-Tsaedi and Adekemene in Mendefera sub-zone are undertaking the necessary agricultural activities aimed at boosting production through preventing soil erosion.

Eng. Fasil Kiflai, expert in soil and water conservation in the sub-zone, stated that proper study has been undertaken to carry out the land leveling activities which would play major role in facilitating irrigation farming.

He further explained that the farming community is now well aware of the significance of such activities and are actively engaged in the campaign.

The local inhabitants said on their part that the fertile soil which used to be washed away through erosion is now being effectively utilized thanks to the undertaking.
