Over 92 million Nakfa Paid in Benefit Scheme to Martyrs’ Families

About 92.4 million Nakfa has been paid in benefit scheme to a total of 7,173 families of martyrs in 11 sub-zones of Anseba region over the past 2 years and half, according to Mr. Girmai Bokretsion, head of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in the region.  Asmara, 18 June 2010 – About 92.4 million Nakfa has been paid in benefit scheme to a total of 7,173 families of martyrs in 11 sub-zones of Anseba region over the past 2 years and half, according to Mr. Girmai Bokretsion, head of the Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in the region. 

He indicated that the support is in line with the coordinated endeavors being exerted by the people and the Government to assist families of fallen heroes. Mr. Girmai further explained that payment centers have been opened outside Keren town, namely Hagaz, Hamelmalo, Elabered and Adi-Tekelezan. Payment is also underway in Kerkebet and Asmat through traveling to the respective areas, he added.

Also in line with the initiatives taken by benevolent Eritrean nationals residing abroad to support martyrs’ families, over 1.3 million Nakfa was paid to 343 families of fallen heroes last year.

Mr. Girmai went on to say that the popular campaigns being undertaken by the general public in support of martyrs’ families has a vital role to play in assisting them, besides giving moral satisfaction.  He also called on the general public to enhance such genuine move.
