Asmara, 20 June 2010 – In a commemorative event they held in community tents, the residents of 13 administrative areas of the Central Region renewed pledge to step up their contribution to live up to the martyrs trust.
In the community tents decorated with martyrs’ photos and slogans, the residents said they take pride in the heroic feats of their sons and daughters and indicated that June 20th is not a day of mourning but rather a day for renewing pledge for reinforced efforts.
Pointing out that the memory of Eritrean martyrs who gave up their lives to put an end to the atrocities over their people is forever etched in the heart of every Eritrean, Mrs. Alefesh Tekle, one of the participants, stated that it is the duty of every citizen to honor the fallen heroes. Similarly, Mr. Mosazgi Negasi and Ms. Ti’ebe Gide, said that they are proud to be parents of fallen heroes and expressed appreciation to Eritrean nationals and the government for taking the responsibility of extending support to them.
Moreover, Mrs. Saliha Mahmoud and Mrs. Ghidey Mengstu, said that they take pride in the martyrdom of their children and are appreciative of the support by Eritrean nationals inside the country and abroad, as well as the Government.
During the commemorative events, various artistic performances were exhibited that highlighted the event.
