Eritreans nationals residing in the Saudi city of Riyadh as well as the NUEW branch in Demam and its environs commemorated Martyrs Day.
Asmara, 21 June 2010- Eritreans nationals residing in the Saudi city of Riyadh as well as the NUEW branch in Demam and its environs commemorated Martyrs Day.
In a statement he made on the occasion, the Eritrean Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Mohammed Omar, said that it is the duty of every citizen to honor the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their country and care for those they left behind. He added that supporting martyrs’ families is an important aspect of the overall national resolute rebuff.
Reports from the area indicated that the Eritrean community in Riyadh contributed 71, 000 Rial to the Martyrs’ Trust Fund.
Meanwhile, in the commemorative event held by members of the NUEW branch in Demam, the participants took the initiative of taking responsibility for 10 families of martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, the secretary of the NUEW branch in Demam, Ms. Elsa Haile, called for reinforced efforts in the noble initiative of caring for families of fallen heroes.
Different programs that reflected the essence of the Day were presented during the events in the two cities.
