Southern Region Inhabitants Engaged In Development and Infrastructure Endeavors

As part of an initiative they took to address water shortage problems, the inhabitants of Ewanet and Berak administrative areas in the sub zones of Segeneiti and Mendefera respectively constructed a dam and a kindergarten at a cost of 4.5 million Nakfa.
Asmara, 21 June 2010- As part of an initiative they took to address water shortage problems, the inhabitants of Ewanet and Berak administrative areas in the sub zones of Segeneiti and Mendefera respectively constructed a dam and a kindergarten at a cost of 4.5 million Nakfa.

During the inauguration of the kindergarten that was built at a cost of 2.5 million Nakafa through the people’s initiative in Ewanet, the Administrator of the area, Mr. Mebrahtu Gebregziabher pointed out that the inhabitants of the area are always ready to engage in such developmental activities to complement the efforts of the Government to provide the inhabitants with adequate social services.

The Administrator of the Southern Region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusien, said that such exemplary initiatives are to be commended and donated 100,000 Nakfa for further development of the kindergarten.

Meanwhile, as a result of the donation of 2 million Nakfa by the inhabitants of the Berak administrative area, a dam is being constructed to ease water shortage problems in the area. 85% of the work on the dam has already been completed, and it is expected to enrich underground water sources in the area.
