Martyrs Day commemorated in Brussels, Cologne and Doha

Eritrean citizens living in Brussels, Cologne and Doha commemorated Martyrs Day with patriotic spirit.

 

Asmara, 22 June 2010 – Eritrean citizens living in Brussels, Cologne and Doha commemorated Martyrs Day with patriotic spirit.

During the commemorative event in Brussels city, the Advisor of the Eritrean Embassy in Belgium, Mr. Negasi Kassa, indicated that the task of assisting martyrs’ families remains to be an integral part of the Eritrean government’s development strategy. He further called on every citizen to make due support to families of fallen heroes.

Noting that the trust of martyrs could only be fulfilled through building a prosperous and developed nation, Mr. Negasi underscored that it is high time to strengthen organizational capacity and reinforce the development drive. The participants of the event asserted that they would step up contribution in support of martyrs’ families and augmenting the Martyrs Trust Fund.

Meanwhile, Eritrean citizens in the German city of Cologne and its environs carried out various activities in memory of fallen heroes, including candle vigil and prayer service. Reports indicated that the money secured from selling candles and donation has been channeled to the Martyrs Trust Fund. The Eritrean Embassy in Germany handed certificates to those who made significant contribution in facilitating the task of supporting families of martyrs, the reports added.

Likewise, in the commemorative event they conducted in connection with June 20, Eritreans in Qatar reaffirmed commitment to continue assisting families of fallen heroes in an enhanced manner.
