Serejeka health center obtains solar energy-generated electricity

A health center in Serejeka sub-zone has obtained solar-energy generated power supply as part of efforts to upgrade health service in remote areas, according to Mr. Woldu Haileab, head of solar energy installation in the Health Ministry.
Serejeka, 22 June 2010 – A health center in Serejeka sub-zone has obtained solar-energy generated power supply as part of efforts to upgrade health service in remote areas, according to Mr. Woldu Haileab, head of solar energy installation in the Health Ministry.

He explained that the 24-hour solar-energy generated electricity would enable the public to get reliable health service. There are also plans to install similar power supply in Durfo health station in the near future, Mr. Woldu added.

Mr. Bereket Tekle from Serejeka health center emphasized the importance of the solar energy-generated electricity in providing reliable service to the public in general and pregnant mothers in particular.

Reports indicated that more than 30 health institutions became beneficiaries of such electricity over the past 2 years, which in turn enabled them to render improved health service.
