Popular campaign gaining momentum in Areza sub-zone

Soil and water conservation activities are gaining momentum in Areza sub-zone aimed at boosting agricultural production and promoting sound ecology.
Areza, 23 June 2010 – Soil and water conservation activities are gaining momentum in Areza sub-zone aimed at boosting agricultural production and promoting sound ecology.

More than 2,000 people are taking active participation in a popular campaign involving the planting of cactus trees in the reserved hills of Adesgodom and Kerni Wushti. Besides, over 60 hectares have been leveled in the administrative areas of Adi-Giroto, Hatsina, Zibandebri and Areza.

The participants of the campaign highlighted the importance of planting cactus tree seedling as it serves the purpose of human and animal feed, in addition to making due contribution in soil and water conservation.

The Administrator of Hatsina administrative area, Mr. Mihreteab Fiseha, stated that such undertakings have a vital role to play in backing up endeavors to achieve food security.
