Stepped-up endeavors being exerted to harness the nation’s tourism potentials

Stepped-up endeavors are being exerted to effectively preserve the nation’s historical sites and archeological artifacts, as well as  harness natural resources in a manner that meets the expectation of tourists, stated Mr. Mohammed Idris Ibrahim, director general of service in the Tourism Ministry.

Asmara, 23 June 2010 – Stepped-up endeavors are being exerted to effectively preserve the nation’s historical sites and archeological artifacts, as well as  harness natural resources in a manner that meets the expectation of tourists, stated Mr. Mohammed Idris Ibrahim, director general of service in the Tourism Ministry.

He explained that the Ministry, in collaboration with the National Museum and other partners, is working tirelessly to popularize and preserve the nation’s rich historical sites and ancient relics, and thereby develop the tourism industry. To this end, Mr. Mohammed stressed the need for the general public and government institutions to play major role.

He went on to say that the existing historical monasteries, mosques, mountains, different bird species, spectacular landscape and other natural resources are praiseworthy endowments that enable the nation to be a hub of  tourism destination. 

Stating that effective tasks were accomplished over the past years since independence in reinforcing service-rendering institutions, Mr. Mohammed pointed out that concerted action is also being taken to build human capacity in the sector.
