Inhabitants of Habero sub-zone making good use of educational opportunity

The inhabitants of Habero sub-zone are making good use of the educational institutions numbering 24, including 11 kindergartens that have been put in place through substantial investment on the part of the Government, according to Mr. Mohammed Jimi’e Ahmed, head of schools in the sub-zone.

Habero, 24 June 2010 – The inhabitants of Habero sub-zone are making good use of the educational institutions numbering 24, including 11 kindergartens that have been put in place through substantial investment on the part of the Government, according to Mr. Mohammed Jimi’e Ahmed, head of schools in the sub-zone.

He explained that previously the local inhabitants were not able to send their children to school due to nomadic way of living. At present, however, they have been regrouped in one community and thus become beneficiaries of educational opportunity, Mr. Mohammed added.

Noting that female participation in elementary and junior levels is quite commendable, he stressed the need for parents to play greater role in enhancing female participation in high school. He further pointed out that educational opportunity is being provided to about 500 pastoralists who did not attend class at the right age through opening 4 teaching centers.

The director of martyred Saleh Tetow Elementary and Junior School, Mr. Woldeslasie Gede, stated that the number of female participation in education this year, especially at secondary level has shown  40% growth.
