Wildlife and vegetation resources being restored in Anseba region

Wildlife and vegetation resources have begun to be restored in reserve areas of Anseba region, stated Mr. Andeberhan Woldeyohannes, head of the wildlife and forestry preservation unit in the region. Keren, 25 June 2010 – Wildlife and vegetation resources have begun to be restored in reserve areas of Anseba region, stated Mr. Andeberhan Woldeyohannes, head of the wildlife and forestry preservation unit in the region.

Noting that concerted action is being taken to boost wildlife and forestry resources, he explained that reserve area plays major role in preserving ancient forests and combating soil erosion, beyond serving as a habitat for wild animals. He further called on the general public to enhance contribution towards properly preserving such reserve areas, as they play due role in coping with climatic change.

The local inhabitants stated that the wildlife and forests that were on the verge of extinction during the colonial period  have now been restored thanks to the coordinated endeavors of the people and the Government.
