76 million Nakfa paid in support to martyrs’ families in Southern region

The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in the Southern region disclosed that a total of 76 million Nakfa has been paid to martyrs’ families in the region out of the benefit scheme paid over the past years and the money contributed by Eritrean citizens abroad. 
Mendefera, 30 June 2010 – The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch in the Southern region disclosed that a total of 76 million Nakfa has been paid to martyrs’ families in the region out of the benefit scheme paid over the past years and the money contributed by Eritrean citizens abroad. 

In briefings he gave to the inhabitants of Mendefera sub-zone, the head of social service in the region, Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, stated that the Government is working diligently to ensure social justice and promote public health which is bearing fruitful outcome.

He further indicated that interest-free loan amounting to 32 million Nakfa has been extended to about 1,500 disabled persons and demobilized nationals with a view to enabling them become self-supporting. Out of this, 16 million Nakfa has already been paid back. Various vocational training programs are also being offered to needy women so as to improve their standard of living, he added.

Mr. Tesfatsion further pointed out that orphan and needy children have been rehabilitated at an expenditure of 1.6 million Nakfa.
