Tokombia, 2 July 2010 – The inhabitants of Tokombia semi-urban center stressed the significance of the newly constructed Gash River-Tokombia Bridge in paving the way for a  promising future. The recently inaugurated impressive bridge was constructed through Gedem and Debai Sima construction companies within a year.

The local inhabitants particularly expressed satisfaction with its major contribution in alleviating the transport problem they used to encounter during the rainy season for many years.

They explained that previously it was impossible to carry out agricultural and herding activities as the area was bisected by the Gash River waters. Major damage also used to be inflicted on human and property annually as a result of excessive flooding. In this connection, they stated that such problems would now be no more thanks to the Government’s priority attention to such a  phenomenon.

Noting that the construction of the bridge is part of the vigorous endeavors being exerted by the Government to ensure social justice, the inhabitants underlined the paramount importance of the bridge in facilitating the urbanization of Laelai-Gash sub-zone in general and Tokombia town in particular.
