The spreading of pesticides is underway through popular campaign to put under control the incidence of locust swarm witnessed by the end of June in the sub-zones of Mai-Mine, Areza, Dekemhare, Mendefera, Emni-Haili and Dubarwa. Mendefera, 2 June 2010 – The spreading of pesticides is underway through popular campaign to put under control the incidence of locust swarm witnessed by the end of June in the sub-zones of Mai-Mine, Areza, Dekemhare, Mendefera, Emni-Haili and Dubarwa.

The head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the Southern region, Mr. Bahta Tedros, expressed conviction that the locust swarm would be controlled shortly as the farmers had reported quickly and the availability of sufficient pesticides and facilities.   

He further called on the farming community to closely supervise their farm plots and inform the Ministry’s branch office in case of such incidence.
