New water reservoir constructed in Sisisma administrative area

A new water reservoir with a capacity of holding about 50,000 cubic meters has been constructed in Sisima administrative area, Barentu sub-zone, in a bid to ease potable water supply problem in the area. Barentu, 5 July 2010 – A new water reservoir with a capacity of holding about 50,000 cubic meters has been constructed in Sisima administrative area, Barentu sub-zone, in a bid to ease potable water supply problem in the area.

Over 650,000 Nakfa has been disbursed for the construction of the reservoir which is expected to play due role in alleviating potable water supply and boosting livestock resource in a number of adjacent villages, according to the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in the sub-zone.

The local inhabitants stressed the construction of the water reservoir in enriching the existing extensive rangelands in the area which have been out of use due to scarcity of water resource.

Sisima administrative area which is located east of Barentu town comprises the villages of Nayanabru, Balak, Giega, Ashkosala and Batkomsoli.
