2 New Schools Constructed In Geleb Sub-Zone

The inhabitants of Gerbet, Marat and Mezabat administrative areas in Geleb sub-zone said that the construction of schools in their respective areas are making significant contribution in promoting educational opportunity.

Geleb, 6 July 2010 – The inhabitants of Gerbet, Marat and Mezabat administrative areas in Geleb sub-zone said that the construction of schools in their respective areas are making significant contribution in promoting educational opportunity.

They explained that previously students used to take class in makeshift tents and under tree shades. At present, however, such problems have been tackled thanks to the construction of fully-equipped schools in their respective villages.

Accordingly, 2 new schools have been constructed in the aforementioned 3 administrative areas at an expenditure of 5.3 million Nakfa. The schools are equipped with 16 classrooms, 6 restrooms and 2 ponds, while residential houses for teachers are under construction.

The local inhabitants expressed satisfaction with the expansion of equitable social services in remote areas.

The head of projects and engineering desk in infrastructure development department in the region, Mr. Futsum Gerezgher, indicated that the Government is taking concerted action to ensure equitable educational opportunities in all corners of the country. He further called on the general public to make good use of the available opportunity.
