Strong coordination among parents and government institutions imperative in nurturing bright youths

A panel discussion conducted at the Denden Camp here in the capital highlighted the need for strengthening close coordination on the part of parents and government institutions so that the endeavors being made to ensure bright future to the youth may bear fruitful outcome.

Asmara, 9 July 2010 – A panel discussion conducted at the Denden Camp here in the capital highlighted the need for strengthening close coordination on the part of parents and government institutions so that the endeavors being made to ensure bright future to the youth may bear fruitful outcome. 

Speaking on the occasion, the director general of social services in the Central regional Administration, Mr. Berhane Negash, indicated that youths are the driving force of societal progress and noted the need for enhancing the participation of parents, government institutions and associations in nurturing dynamic youths. 

The Administrator of Tiravolo administrative area, Ms. Hiwet Mogos, explained that the panel discussion is aimed at properly bequeathing the society’s cherished values and norms to the young generation, besides seeking remedy to unethical practices of some youths.

A report presented by the police at the discussion panel indicated that weak parental supervision is one of the causes of the unethical practices of some youngsters and called on parents to properly follow up their children.

Study papers were also presented on the occasion under the title “The Role of Society in Nurturing and Caring for the Youth” and “Socio-economic Change and its Impact.” 

Following discussion on the agenda items, the participants of the panel adopted a number of resolutions and recommendations.
