6,860 plots of tiessa land allotted in Southern region

A total of 6,860 plots of tiessa land have been allotted in 12 sub-zones of Southern region over the past six months to national who fulfilled the necessary requirements, according to Mr. Hailemichael Eyob, head of the Ministry of Land, Water and Environment branch in the region. In a meeting with the inhabitants of Adi-Keih sub-zone, he pointed out that the allotted land would be used for residential purpose, and that another 171 plots of land have been allotted for business purpose.

Noting that drafting has been undertaken in the towns of Dubarwa, Mendefera and Dekemhare, Mr. Hailemichael indicated that land would be shortly allotted to nationals who made requests for residential and business purposes. He further explained that preparations have been finalized for tiessa land allotment in 30 villages this year.

Also in line with endeavors to ensure potable water supply, about 37 new water sources have been constructed, in addition to the renovation of 50 existing wells.

The participants of the meeting adopted various resolutions and recommendations highlighting the need to speed up the process of tiessa land allotment in the villages of Tekondae, Embeito, Zibanzigib, Haineba and Hadamu.
