A micro-dam is under construction in Sequar, Ashera administrative area, of Hagaz sub-zone, with a view to easing potable water supply problem in the area. Hagaz, 12 July 2010 – A micro-dam is under construction in Sequar, Ashera administrative area, of Hagaz sub-zone, with a view to easing potable water supply problem in the area.

The Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Idris Mohammed, stated that the Government is doing its level best to improve the people’s standard of living and added that top priority is being given to the task of easing potable water supply problem in the sub-zone.

On top of its contribution in providing potable water supply to the inhabitants along with their cattle, the micro-dam is expected to enrich underground water resources, besides facilitating irrigation farming in the nearby agricultural site. Previously, the local inhabitants who used to travel long distance to fetch water expressed satisfaction with the construction of the micro-dam.

The Administrator of Ashera administrative area, Mr. Tesfatsion Woldu, said that the local inhabitants are taking active participation in the undertaking so as to accomplish the project within a short period of time.

In expression of their satisfaction with the construction of the micro-dam, the inhabitants hosted a luncheon to those engaged in the project, the reports added.
