Adi-Quala, 16 July 2010 – A total of 116 disadvantaged female farmers in Adi-Ligesi, Adi-Quala sub-zone, engaged in fruits and vegetables cultivation are registering encouraging outcomes in their endeavors.
Mr. Mengsiteab Teame, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture branch office in the sub-zone, disclosed that the female farmers have been able to cultivate over 14 hectares of land using the Adi-Bahro dam and supply their products to the markets in Adi-Quala. The farmers were engaged in fruits and vegetable cultivation in organized manner through the support of the Government in collaboration with its partners in 2002, he added.
Mr. Mengsiteab went on to call on the farmers to engage in livestock breeding in addition to fruits and vegetable cultivation.
