Sawa, 17 July 2010 – President Isaias Afwerki yesterday opened an exhibition of creative and innovative works, as well as information technology products presented by the youth.
During the tour of the exhibition that was accompanied by cultural dance and songs, the President asserted the Government’s readiness to assist and encourage talented youth in promoting their skills.
In an interview he conducted with ERINA, Mr. Yonas Hadera, one of the innovative youths who invented a machine for preparing animal feed said that President Isaias admired his creativity and assured him that the Government is indeed ready to provide the needed moral and material support.
Digital dictionary software, Geez Calendar, various machines and handicrafts were some among the works that were showcased at the exhibition that will stay open till tomorrow.
It is to be noted that based on the work assignment given by President Isaias, the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students has been working vigorously since 2008 to strengthen and organize creative and innovative works by the youth. To this end a national board for creativity and innovation has been established and is already actively engaged in coordinating such initiatives.
