President Isaias Afwerki awarded the Sawa prizes to Eritrean students from different parts of the world who excelled in completing their secondary school studies.
Sawa, 18 July 2010- President Isaias Afwerki awarded the Sawa prizes to Eritrean students from different parts of the world who excelled in completing their secondary school studies.
The 180 students who came from the US, Europe, Saudi Arabia and other countries expressed their happiness in receiving the award from the President.
One of the winners, Ms. Roza Kiflom told ERINA that she is very happy to have been legible for the Sawa award and added that the award she had received from President Isaias will give her even more drive to work harder in her studies and one day serve her country.
Mr. Ahmed Abdelqadir and Jerry Ibrahim from Saudi Arabia on their part expressed their pleasure in being the first ones from Saudi to receive this award and pointed out that such recognition will give them added strength to excel in their future endeavors.
Another winner, Ms. Timnit Mehari from Denmark, said that she had participated in the 3rd National Youth Festival and that she is happy that she had been able to realize her wish.
Ms. Dehab Tesfayohaness, mother of one of the winners on her part stated that Eritrean parents abroad exert strenuous efforts so as to inculcate Eritrean identity among their children and that those who have received the Sawa award will provide an example for others.
During the ceremony, the Wari cultural troupe, the Eri-Am sisters from US as well as the Sudanese cultural troupe staged a remarkable show.
