Sawa, 18 July 2010- The Minister of Defense, General Sebhat Efrem stated that the stability and dignity of countries is measured by their past struggles for freedom.
In a seminar he conducted on Saturday, 17 July for the participants of the 4th Eri-Youth Festival, General Sebhat explained that the 2nd most developed country in the world, Japan had suffered for more than 500 years to forge its own identity and it is where it is now owing to such perseverance.
The General went on to point out that the Western states that today dominate world politics and economy had once struggled for decades to instate themselves as countries and that the peace and prosperity they enjoy now is commensurate with their past struggles.
Pointing out that Eritrea will enjoy peace and prosperity that corresponds with the hostilities and challenges it is facing today, General Sebhat expressed conviction that the country will be one of the few best once it overcomes these challenges.
General Sebhat went on to clarify that Eritrea continues to foil relentless hostilities and conspiracies owing to the firm and strong triangular connection among the people, the government and the army.
Stating that strong families make up strong villages and strong villages make up strong governments, General Sebhat noted that Eritrea’s advantages are the basis for the firm relations among the people, army and government.
Finally, General Sebhat Efrem explained that Eritrean ideology and identity was cultivated within Eritrea, which in turn gave rise to the faith, courage and discipline among the people and defense forces of the country. He went on to underscore that promoting and preserving these values is the duty of every citizen for they will be the driving force behind Eritrea’s prosperous future.
