Central regional Administration enhancing reforestation activities

The Central Regional Administration is enhancing reforestation activities at the regional level through the active participation of communities and public associations.

Asmara, 30 July 2010 – The Central Regional Administration is enhancing reforestation activities at the regional level through the active participation of communities and public associations.

Accordingly, at the site reserved for tree plantation in Embaderho, the Administrator of the region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, and the Chairperson of the NUEW in the region, Ms. Tekh’a  Tesfamichael, as well as department heads and staff members planted tree seedlings.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kahsai indicated that the regional Administration is working diligently in promoting reforestation programs in accordance with the on-going soil and water conservation endeavors. He further called on the general public to back up such activities.

More than 3,000 members of the NUEW from 13 administrative areas in Asmara and Serejeka sub-zone planted tree seedlings on 3  hectares. Besides, members of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (NCEW) carried out similar activities on about 5 hectors, while members of the NUEYS planted tree seedlings on 3  hectares.
