More Training Programs to be Offered to Prisoners of Law

The Administrator of Tsetserat Prison, Lieutenant Teklemariam Tsegai, said that efforts would be stepped up towards promoting the academic and vocational skills of prisoners of law in the Eritrean correctional and rehabilitation centers.

Asmara, 4 August 2010 – The Administrator of Tsetserat Prison, Lieutenant Teklemariam Tsegai, said that efforts would be stepped up towards promoting the academic and vocational skills of prisoners of law in the Eritrean correctional and rehabilitation centers.

He explained that various training programs, including computer application and sewing machine, as well as academic courses ranging from the 2nd to 10th grade have been offered to the prisoners.

The Commander of the Tsetserat Correctional and Rehabilitation Center, Lt. Colonel Tesfazgi Yohannes, pointed out that the training programs offered are in line with the Government’s substantial investment in the education sector. He further called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the available opportunities, and expressed appreciation to the individuals and institutions that made due contribution in organizing the training.

Individuals who demonstrated excellence in the various courses received prizes and certificates from Brig. General Girmai Mehari, Commander of the Eritrean Correctional and Rehabilitation Center, and other officials.
