Administrator Urges Agricultural Experts to Work Hand-in-hand with Farmers

In the course of the visit to She’ib sub-zone, the Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsegereda Woldegergish, urged agricultural experts to work hand-in-hand with the farming community so that the endeavors to achieve food security and improve the farmer’s living standard may bear fruitful outcome.

She’ib, 9 August 2010 – In the course of the visit to She’ib sub-zone, the Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Ms. Tsegereda Woldegergish, urged agricultural experts to work hand-in-hand with the farming community so that the endeavors to achieve food security and improve the farmer’s living standard may bear fruitful outcome.

She observed the Laba and Mai-Ule water diversion schemes that sustained damage due to heavy rains last month, during which she stressed the need to effectively implement the envisaged work programs. 

Ms. Tsegereda further highlighted the significance of diverting river waters flowing from the highlands for agricultural purpose. The Administrator went on to say that the proper handling of soil and water conservation activities in those agricultural lands cultivated through summer and bahri rains is quite imperative.

Also in the course of the tour, Ms. Tsegereda observed 10 different types of date palm trees planted on about 2 hectares which are in good condition, during which she extended words of encouragement to the farmers to redouble their efforts.
