Participants of the Summer Work Program (SWP) in Adi- Keih sub-zone have accomplished effective tasks, according to Mr. Yohannes Kiflemariam, expert in reforestation in the sub-zone.
Adi-Keih, 10 August 2010 – Participants of the Summer Work Program (SWP) in Adi- Keih sub-zone have accomplished effective tasks, according to Mr. Yohannes Kiflemariam, expert in reforestation in the sub-zone.
He explained that the participants who were deployed in 6 stations at the beginning of July have carried out various development activities around micro-dams, including the putting in place of over 40,000 meter-terracing and the construction of 220 cubic meters of embankments. About 18,000 holes have also been dug for planting tree seedlings, he added.
Mr. Yohannes further indicated that such activities have a vital role to play in tackling soil erosion and raising productivity. In this respect, he called on the local inhabitants to back up the undertaking.
Meanwhile, reforestation and gardening activities have been carried out within the premises of the newly inaugurated College of Arts and Social Science in Adi-Keih town.
