Farming Community in Foro Sub-Zone Redoubling Endeavors to Achieve Food Security

Members of the farming community in Foro sub-zone asserted readiness to make good use of the development and infrastructure facilities put in place, and thereby strive to boost output and achieve food security. 
Foro, 11 August 2010 – Members of the farming community in Foro sub-zone asserted readiness to make good use of the development and infrastructure facilities put in place, and thereby strive to boost output and achieve food security. 

They commended the support being extended to them on the part of all government institutions and voiced determination to redouble endeavors towards enhancing agricultural practices.

Reports indicated that parallel to the major tasks being accomplished by the Government, the local inhabitants are undertaking various development activities focusing on soil and water conservation, construction and renovation of embankments and water catchments, among others.

Noting that previously their agricultural production was minimal as they used to apply traditional farming methods, they stressed the significance of such development activities in raising productivity.

River waters flowing from the highlands are now irrigating extensive farmlands in Foro sub-zone thanks to the undertaking of soil and water conservation activities, the reports added.
