Inhabitants of Kerkebet Called Upon to Enhance Contribution in Wildlife Preservation

The head of reforestation and wildlife resources in Kerkebet sub-zone, Mr. Mohammed Osman Tahir, called on the inhabitants of the sub-zone to step up contribution in efforts to boost the number of wildlife. Kerkebet, 11 August 2010 – The head of reforestation and wildlife resources in Kerkebet sub-zone, Mr. Mohammed Osman Tahir, called on the inhabitants of the sub-zone to step up contribution in efforts to boost the number of wildlife.

He explained that various types of wild animals that were disappeared as a result of climate change and recurrent wars are now coming back to their habitat with ever more increasing number.

Reports indicate that the sub-zone has now become the home of different wild animals, including zebra, ostrich, antelope, hyena and the like thanks to the existing favorable condition.

Mr. Mohammed further emphasized the need for taking the necessary remedial actions against those irresponsible individuals who are engaged in hunting activities. 

The local inhabitants noted that Kerkebet sub-zone used to be endowed with rich wildlife resource and called for the concerned party to take the required punishment against those who are inflicting damage on wild animals. They further highlighted the need for undertaking campaign to raise the awareness of the public in general and the youth in particular regarding the significance of preserving wildlife resource.
