Soil and water conservation activities are being stepped up in Halhal sub-zone, according to Mr. Amaha Gebrewahd, head of administration and finance in the sub-zone.
Halhal, 16 August 2010 – Soil and water conservation activities are being stepped up in Halhal sub-zone, according to Mr. Amaha Gebrewahd, head of administration and finance in the sub-zone.
He explained that the inhabitants of Fenshebeku, Enrekubet, Kertset, Rihei, Mai-Awalid, Halhal, Gebei-Alebu and Melebso are taking active participation in the undertaking. Accordingly, over 1,200 km-long terraces have been put in place around agricultural sites, he added. Mr. Amaha further indicated that 3 wells have been dug in the administrative areas of Fenshebeku and Halhal through popular campaign.
Meanwhile, participants of the Summer Work Program in the sub-zone planted tens of thousands of tree seedlings in different parts of the sub-zone, in addition to the construction of about 648 cubic meters of embankments and carrying out weeding activities on farmlands belonging to martyrs’ families and needy nationals.
