Agordat sub-zone: Parents encouraged to send their children to school

In a meeting they held with school committee, the inhabitants of 15 administrative areas in Agordat sub-zone asserted that they would send their children to school at the right age.
Agordat, 21 August 2010 – In a meeting they held with school committee, the inhabitants of 15 administrative areas in Agordat sub-zone asserted that they would send their children to school at the right age.

They explained that previously their children were deprived of educational opportunities due to colonial rule in which schools were confined to few areas. The inhabitants went on to say that at present, nonetheless, their children get access to reliable educational opportunity in their respective areas.

The chairman of the school committee and representative of the sub-zonal administration, Mr. Hadish Asgedom, indicated that the Government is doing its level best in expanding social service in all parts of the country, and that the task of ensuring  equitable educational opportunity to all is being given top priority.

The head of social service in Agordat sub-zone, Ms. Fatina Idris, on her part urged parents to send their children to school.
