Inhabitants of 7 villages in Segeneiti sub-zone get access to electricity

In line with endeavors to install electricity supply in 10 villages of Segeneiti sub-zone, the inhabitants of Ewanet, Digsa, Degra-Lib’a, Adi-Hadid, Birkito, Hiebo and Adi-Kita have become beneficiaries of power supply. Segeneiti, 21 August 2010 – In line with endeavors to install electricity supply in 10 villages of Segeneiti sub-zone, the inhabitants of Ewanet, Digsa, Degra-Lib’a, Adi-Hadid, Birkito, Hiebo and Adi-Kita have become beneficiaries of power supply.

The head of electricity installation in Segeneiti and Dekemhare, Mr. Kibrom Temesgen, indicated that the electric line distribution program that began two months ago is in line with the Government’s efforts to narrow the gap between rural and urban areas. About 1,200 power counters  have already been distributed to customers, and that the program would be fully finalized next month, he added. Mr. Kibrom further explained that electricity installation task is also underway in the villages of Akirur, Beraqit Abai and Mai-Aha.

The local inhabitants expressed satisfaction with the move taken and stressed its significance in upgrading the provision of various social service which used to be limited due to the absence of power supply. They also noted that the installation of electricity would be a driving force for the urbanization of the area.

The Eritrean Electricity Corporation branch office in the sub-zone disclosed that out of the 32 villages earmarked to get access to power supply, 25 villages have already become beneficiaries with the distribution of 3,000 counters.
