Asmara, 26 August 2010 –Eritrean young athletes won broad acclaim on the part of spectators and media outlets for their impressive performance in the Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore from August 14 to 26.
In the competition in which a number of youths from different countries participated, Eritrea won gold medal in the men’s 3,000- meter competition through Athlete Abrar Osman, while in a similar women’s game, Athlete Samrawit Mengisteab, won bronze medal. Moreover, Chuchu Giorgio stood fourth in the 1,000-meter men’s competition.
It is to be recalled that following second rank in the semi-final contest which was conducted on August 17, Athlete Abrar manage to stand first in the contest held on August 23 with impressive speed that won him broad acclaim on the part of spectators and media outlets.
During the award presentation ceremony, the Eritrean flag was hoisted along with the National Anthem, according to reports.
