Dekemhare, 1 September 2010 – The Dairy Products Association in Dekemhare sub-zone is supplying sufficient milk products to the market following the undertaking of restructuring tasks and exerting vigorous efforts, stated the residents of the town.
They explained that previously milk and its products used to be sold in unorganized manner in different corners of the town, but since 2010 it is being supplied to the market through the Association’s 2 distribution centers.
The chairman of the Association, Mr. Samuel Mengisteab, said on his part that it is striving to supply safe and reliable milk to the public. Reports indicated that there are about 1,762 cows in the sub-zone.
Noting that the number of customers keeps growing with each passing day, he pointed out that about 1,317 liters of milk is being supplied to the market on a daily basis. Mr. Samuel went on to say that the Association is working hand-in-hand with agricultural experts in preparing green animal feed and ensuring the health of cows so as to boost production.
Preparations are also underway to set up an animal feed processing factory that would supply animal feed to the sub-zones of Adi-Keih, Senafe, Segeneiti, Mai-Aini, Tsorona and Dekemhare, he added.
